When you want to know why something changed or what to do about it, ask Loops in plain language. Ask Loops answers from your own reviews, themes and Pulse reports, cites the numbers it used, and links you to the reviews behind them.
Before you start
- At least one location with reviews. With no reviews yet, Ask Loops can still explain how Loops works, but it has nothing to analyse.
Steps
1. Open Ask Loops
Click the Ask Loops button in the bottom-right corner of any page, or press ⌘; (Mac) / Ctrl+; (Windows). The panel opens on the right and the page stays usable next to it. The button and the shortcut reopen your current conversation where you left off.
2. Or ask about something specific
Hover over a review, a Pulse report, a theme, a location card, or a filtered Inbox list. Then click the Ask Loops icon labelled Ask Loops AI about this review (or report, theme, location, these results). This starts a new conversation about that item and shows three suggested questions about it, such as "Is this a one-off or part of a pattern?" Your previous conversation is kept in history.
3. Check what Ask Loops is looking at
Expand the context bar under the header to see the locations and date range in use. Ask Loops uses the same locations as the page's location picker: all locations, one location, a saved group or a custom selection. It looks at the last 90 days by default, or further back when a location has few recent reviews. Click the date chip to choose a longer range, up to All time.
Tip: Type @ in the message box to point at a specific location, group, theme, Pulse report or review, for example
@Downtown.
4. Ask your question
Type your question and press Enter, or tap one of the suggested questions. Use Shift+Enter for a new line, and Stop or Esc to stop an answer while it's being written.
5. Check the evidence and act on it
Under each answer, a line like "Read 47 reviews · Aug 15 – Sep 14" shows what Ask Loops looked at. Click it to open exactly those reviews in the Inbox. Some answers also include buttons such as Open 1★ reviews that take you straight to the right page.
What you'll see when it's done
- An answer based on your data, often with a small chart or table.
- A clear "I don't know" or "I'd need X" when the data isn't there. Ask Loops doesn't guess.
- Your past conversations under Conversation history in the panel header, where you can reopen or delete them. Use New conversation to start fresh.
- Expand to split view opens charts and plans in a wider side-by-side view. On large screens, Open workspace gives them even more room.
Note: Answers are AI-generated and may be wrong. Check important numbers by clicking through to the reviews.
Give Ask Loops your numbers (optional)
To ask about costs or revenue, open Settings → Locations and fill in Economics (optional) on a location: average ticket, covers per day, seat count, food cost and labour cost. Blank fields are never estimated. Filled figures are sent to OpenAI (Loops' AI provider) when you ask about costs or revenue.
Common issues
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The Ask Loops button is missing | You're in onboarding, or your trial has ended | Finish setup, or subscribe from Settings → Billing |
| "You've reached N messages this hour" / "today's limit" | Short-term usage limit | Wait and try again |
| "You've used this month's N assistant messages…" | Monthly allowance used up | Wait for the reset date shown, or subscribe if you're on the trial |
| The answer is about the wrong locations | The page picker or an @ mention changed the scope | Expand the context bar and check the location chip |
| A step shows an error instead of a result | A data source was briefly unavailable | Click retry on that step, or ask again |
